Council 7 is a local Waterbury-based organization focused on keeping it's Lithuanian heritage alive.
In the late 1800's, the Brooklyn section of Waterbury contained a mix of immigrants, many of which were Lithuanian.
The Lithuanian community flourished in Brooklyn and succeeded in establishing the first Lithuanian church in New England in 1894 - St. Joseph's Church and School.
Over time the Lithuanian community grew out of Brooklyn. We recognize that Brooklyn and St. Joseph's Church represent the home of all Connecticut Lithuanians.
If you are of Lithuanian heritage, or love all things Lithuanian, and want to help us preserve our culture and foster activities to enhance Lithuania's and our local community's future, let us know! We welcome new members and guests throughout the year.
Council 7 of the Knights of Lithuania (K of L) was established in the early 1900's.
Our motto is "For God and Country"
Members meet and socialize regularly to share Lithuanian customs, traditions, and an appreciation and love for the Lithuanian languages.
Meetings are generally held monthly in St. Joseph's school.
Council 7 hosts various fundraisers and social events throughout the year. Check out our Programs and Events page for more information.
Whether you help by attending meetings, volunteering your time, or spreading our mission through word-of-mouth, thank you. We couldn't accomplish our goals without the help of supporters like you.
